PROGRAMS

 Emergency Shelter

  • Gillespie Center : Homes with Hope maintains 15 beds for men in this emergency shelter that generally operates at over 100% capacity.  HwH provides social services and casework in this 24-hour facility.
  • Hoskins’ Place: This 4-bed emergency shelter for women is next door to the men’s facility and offers the same services.  The shelter continues to operate at capacity.
  • Bacharach Community: Located on Wassell Lane and an additional facility on the Post Road, this program provides emergency shelter for up to six families headed by single women. These mothers and their children are in need of safe emergency housing and caseworker assistance.

 Permanent Affordable Supportive Housing

  • Saugatuck Apartments: Previously known as Homes with Hope this is the agency's first permanent supportive housing program.  Saugatuck Apartments provides 8 units for formerly homeless, mentally ill individuals and families who live with a lease in independent housing.  They receive support from a professionally trained case manager.   
  • Westport Rotary Centennial House: Located on West End Avenue this new facility provides 6 additional units of permanent affordable supportive housing in the model of Saugatuck Apartments.

 Food

  • Community Kitchen: Homes with Hope operates the Community Kitchen at the Gillespie Center and serves 30,000 meals annually.  Volunteers from numerous organizations in our community take turns preparing lunches and dinners; breakfast is always available through the resources of our Food Pantry.
  • Food Pantry: Homes with Hope maintains a Food Pantry at the Gillespie Center that is supplied by a variety of food collection and donation drives in Westport and surrounding Fairfield County.

 Training

  • PRIDE: An intensive employment-readiness program for men and women with significant barriers to employment, including mental illness, substance abuse or homelessness.  This highly structured training program teaches job seeking skills and workplace expectations, builds self-esteem and explores potential employment opportunities.

 Mentoring

  • Women’s Interfaith Network (WIN): A program designed to support Homes with Hope clients and other women at risk who are struggling to create stable and self-sufficient lives.  Through weekly one-on-one meetings, trained volunteer mentors under the supervision of an HwH program director, offer compassion, guidance and friendship, fostering confidence and self-reliance.
